Pdf Summary
This document provides an introduction to the training process, presented by Rebecca Krouse, Co-Owner of Rope Up. The presentation covers the requirements for trainers, how adults learn, and how to create a training plan. It also discusses the tools available to trainers.

Trainers should be familiar with state/jurisdictional requirements for trainers and trainees, as well as demonstrate clinical best practices. Key terms to identify include trainer, sponsor, supervisor, mentor, trainee, and apprentice, each with their specific roles and responsibilities.

When it comes to how adults learn, it is important to understand that adults are primarily intrinsically motivated, desiring to learn for personal growth and enjoyment. They have various responsibilities and life experiences outside of the clinical environment. Different teaching styles can be employed, such as the "sage on the stage" (instructor-led, lectures) and the "guide on the side" (learner-led, experiential learning).

To create a training plan, trainers should first understand the job and scope set by state/jurisdiction. Setting goals, identifying clinical activities, implementing phases and/or a timeline, and evaluating the training are key steps in the process. Evaluations should be conducted for both the trainer and trainee to assess strengths and weaknesses.

Tools available to trainers include the Trainer Manual, ILE Test Prep, practical exams, and a new Learning Management System (LMS) for Distance Learning Course (DLC) in the future. Communication is vital in training, and regular huddles and debriefs help set expectations and provide feedback.

The document provides additional resources and references for further reading on training practices.
