The relationship between cognition and hearing healthcare is significant for patients/clients and hearing care professionals. In this presentation, Dr. Beck will review and highlight the peer-reviewed literature from the mid-twentieth century to the present. Dr. Beck will address the clinical significance of Speech in Noise scores as they relate to cognitive ability, cognitive screening attributes and cautions, as well as amplification choices and options, recommendations for referral to other healthcare professionals, and counseling approaches for patients/clients.

At the end of this presentation, attendees will be able to:

    • Name three cognitive screeners.
    • Define hearing versus listening.
    • Name three speech-in-noise tests.
